"Add Hardware" stuck

Two things are happening and I'm not sure if they're related. 1) A new icon showed up on my task bar and a balloon pops up saying "Found New Hardware MTP Device" I cannot get rid of the balloon (the accompanying irritating sound). Right clicking on the icon doesn't do a thing but remove the balloon for a whopping 5 seconds. Then it's back with the stupid noise. 2) In the Control Panel--when I click on the "Add Hardware" icon it tells me I can only install one device at a time. I'M NOT TRYING TO INSTALL ANYTHING!!!!!! HELLLLOOOOO! I'm trying to get rid of the icon (prompts the balloon and sound) on my taskbar. Can anyone please help????

Well, I read that article.. Its funny how some people in those forums will post stuff that is so silly and then others are like YAY!! You fixed my problem.. Give me a break.. So, just to add my two cents. The original "solution" posted was to hide the notification on your taskbar, which does absolutely nothing for fixing the problem and you will still have all kinds of problems. So, ignore that joke all together! Now, they did suggest that going into control panel -> system -> hardware -> device manager, and then right-click the MTP device and clicking uninstall has solved the issue. However, it is definitely an issue with the driver being installed for this device. Try this solution and post back to us.
