Read over the article carefully. And go to the Microsoft site. This is an old problem
and if you have it in a newer version on windows it may not be the very same problem.
D you have the latest version of the Windows installer?
Notice exactly which programs do this. It can be Word, Outlook or Access. Notice
too that editing the registry is not the only way and is potentially harmful. It
is safer to re-install and re-install the whole MS office.

Thank you very much for your reply. Windows installer bumps in every time my friend
opens Microsoft Word. She purchased the PC already with XP home edition and Office.
Maybe it helps if I install a registry cleaner software? I solved that problem on
my PC at once following the steps on this site, but XP Home Edition seems not to
have the same possibilities. Thank you Edith

There can be more that just one bug that makes this happen. So the solution that
works for you may not serve in another inhalation.
MS says, in some odd way, there is more that one problem. The program was preloaded
by the maker of that PC. They may have used the wrong installer. So you need to put
this on their doorstep. Perhaps they may offer to re-install the whole thing using
updated versions of the programs and the installer.

The Geek is right - follow his advice - and furthermore don't use a Registry
Cleaner. As well as not fixing this issue, they don't fix much else either
and can cause damage :-)
