For some reason I keep getting erro message when trying to make a second user account.
The error message is something like this: the log in name is not reconized and can
not complete task. How can I fix this?

Tell us what exact steps you are taking to create a new user account, and what the
exact error message is.

Steps: control panel, user accounts, click on change account or add account. Then
get error message: user log in name not recognized. Restart computer and open user
accounts.
This is a Dell desktop that was given to us as is. I don't have the original admin
account or password. I wanted to add my kids to the computer but when I tried the
above is what I keep getting. I can't do anything in the user accounts field, the
same message pops up after ever thing I click. I open for any thing at this point.

This can't be the EXACT error message because it hasn't been repeated any where in
cyberspace according to a search.
I can't help you if I can't research the problem, and I can't research the problem
if you don't tell me the exact word for word error!

yes, that is the exact error message. It's a rectangular box that pops up the that
exact message. I have googled it and there are a lot of people out there with same
problem but no answers. Google the error message. I would take a snap shot and add
it in here if I knew how to add pictures to this forum.

I presume you are trying to create a new account from an account with Admin privileges?
