SR2020NX - Doesnt recognize activity on any USB ports/devices

Fresh install of XP Home SP2 (then updated to Service Pack 3 via Win Update), all
drivers installed and updated (chipset first, then VGA, network, and sound).
I got this machine, plugged my thumb drive into the front panel, and got nothing.
Tried both ports. Tried the rear 2 ports, as well. Rebooted a few times, then reinstalled
windows from scratch (had to anyway). //
Still nothing on the USB. Threw a USB 2.0 card on the PCI slot, WDM doesnt even recognize
its existence (let alone the devices I have plugged into it). //
Plugged an iPod into it. The iPod lit up like there was activity, but wouldnt charge,
and wasn't recognized by windows.
Double checked WDM, no missing drivers or unknown devices. It shows 2 USB root hubs
under USB blah blah blah, disabled power management on both of them (so they're always
on).
I dont really have any cash right now or I'd go buy another PCI USB card to test.

Just a thought... As this is a Compaq (?) did you reinstall Windows from a Compaq
recovery disk or from a purchased XP disk? I have had problems in the past with
HP machines trying to do this as some of the drivers are not loaded or loaded incorrectly.

Jt
suggest you test it with (yet another) install of XP sp2. I've seen reports that
SP3 disables USB ports on some machines. Be sure that no USB devices, e.g. flash
drives, are connected during this install

I installed from a Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition OEM CD, using the OEM key.
But, it didn't work with the OEM image to begin with.
Thanks for your input.
