png filetype won't associate

png filetype won't associate

I have Fireworks mx2004
In a windows explorer window all PNG file type icons look like the generic (unknown)
Icon although the file type column shows that they are fireworks files. When I attempt
to set the file type with folder options and browse to fireworks.exe and select it,
the association does not show up. If I go back and redo by browsing to fireworks
exe again, it still does not associate, If I select any other program it works. Any
help would be appreciated.

Can't you right click on a .png file, choose 'open with' then choose the program?

Usually I remove all Actions in Edit File Type and associate it with what I want.Works
for me.But I don't know what Fireworks mx2004 is.

no I can't
and I can't get it set up through folder options as I mentioned

You might also try deleting it (folder options) and then double clicking a file (explorer)
to re-associate. That should remove any corruption.
