Christine, how did you restore XP? Did you use the restore CD provided by HP or did
you use some other XP CD?
Please explain exactly what you did.

You can't just use "any" old XP CD. It has to match the version the product key
was designed for.
Bootlegged copies of Windows XP Pro volume license edition download from limewire
isn't going to work with a genuine product key attached to the outside of your computer.
You need either an XP Home OEM, or an XP Pro OEM disc depending on which version
your HP came with.

We keep getting questions like this. So can we ask you some simple questions?
Can you tell us who you bought it from?
Was it:
www.compusa.com
HP Pavilion a6433w Refurbished
Did they tell yu that no media was included? Did they offer to sell you the original
media? Did you understand that without the original media you can not do a re install?
The original HP media disk is available to HP users who have the real COA on the
side or back of the PC case. Expect to pay about $25 for it from a legit distributor
of HP products.m You an not buying a new license, you are buying a replacement media
for a license that goes with the machine.
