I donno.. maybe was going to ask how to open the documents in the restricted
folder. But he doesn't remember how he did it.
I can understand that, I too have short term memory loss.
Now what was the question?

Thanks for the tip. I have no idea how the folder "A" was created as restricted.
I created a new folder named Shared Folder. Dragged "A" into it and all is fine.
Now can you tell me how to un-restrict "A" so it can be dragged out of Shared Folder
and used as I normally do?
Keep it simple. Thanks.

If you created a compressed folder you can extract all items form the folder. If
you locked the folder with a password, you have to find the password.
We need to have more information.
PDF files are a special case, it is a format the requires a program from Adobe. If
you used Adobe to lock the folder, we may not be able to help you here.

The folder is not compressed nor is it protected by a password. A few of the documents
in it were openable and I dragged them out. I did nothing unusual in creating the
file and have never bothered to learn about protecting a file with a password as
I'm the only user. The file itself opens up immediately - its the documents that
won't display. The unopenable documents were openable before they were dragged into
this new folder.
Keep it simple. Thanks.

Maybe you are using the term 'file' to refer to a folder.
A file contains pages or records. or data or code of some kind. A file can be a
document. All documents all files. Not all files are documents. A folder contains
files and can have sub-folders, which are just called folders.
Now then, are you not able to place any inoperable document into another folder?
Do you get an error message? Does it ask for a password?
Can you do a right click on the document?
Here is a snapshot of me doing a right click on my original logo:
Can you send the document to a floppy?

I'll stick to the correct terminology, thanks for the definitions.
>
>Now then, are you not able to place any inoperable document into another folder?
Correct. It refuses to be dragged.
>Do you get an error message? Does it ask for a password? No.
>Can you do a right click on the document? A single right brings up a 3 option
menu all options on the menu are ignored using a single left click..
A double left is totally ignored.
>Can you send the document to a floppy? My machine does not support floppy.
Keep it simple. Thanks.

This may be what you want:
If you must access a file or a
folder that you do not have rights to,
you must take ownership of that file or folder. When you do this, you
replace the security permissions that were originally created for the
file or folder.
