POP UP's

I have been getting popup's from something I downloaded for my mom. I get a popup about whatever it might be then comes a box saying my computer might be infected. It has a ok or cancel button. I hit the X & close it out. It still throws out a popup window. When I close that it shows a download box. I close that & it wants to download it anyway. It ask's me if I want to run or save. When I close that box it's done till I open my IE. I have run Adware, Spybot, RegClean & I also have the paid for version of AVG. Can someone help me with this? I have tried everything I know to do.

You have a virus. Follow directions at any of the following sites. The folks there are dedicated to malware removal and will be able to help you determine if your system is infected and if so how to clean it up. They require that you register but they are all free. Also be patient as they are usually very busy:

WhattheTech
GeeksToGo
Spyware Beware

I'm currently running Malwarebytes now. I appreciate the information. I will defenitely try those sites you give me. I just wonder why my AVG or the other stuff I ran didn't catch it? Thank you very much!!!

No single anti-virus, anti-spyware program is going to catch everything. The single most important thing you can do to prevent future infections (in my opinion) is to switch to a different web browser and get off of Internet Explorer.

Install FireFox or Opera and make it your default browser. Only use IE when absolutely necessary.

Install and keep updated, Spybot Search & Destroy and Spyware Blaster. I don't recommend using Spybot's TeaTimer unless you understand exactly what it does and how to use it.

I use firefox as default , as does my wife on here laptop and still get hit by the trojan the poster has ,and we get them on legit websites and youtube videos , because of link hijacking . my advice is when you get the first popup don't hit any of the options like X, or yes & no or cancel as they all are programed to mean yes! do the following ,, ALT+ctrl+del , then go to applications and end task ,shutting down the browser ! then run ccleaner and clean all temp files and cookie ! and do the registry cleaner as well . get and install CCleaner now !so you are ready for the next hit! www.ccleaner.com
