boot.ini and hidden files

Dear Friends,

I am using Windows XP Professional - SP3 on Pentium 4 system. Suddenly, I started
getting "invalid boot.ini file" message at system boot-up. On examination, I found
that there is no boot.ini file in C:, I therefore inserted a boot.ini file with the
following entries.

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin
/fastdetect

Though, now I don't get the "invalid boot.ini file" message at system boot-up but
all hidden and system files are displayed in Windows Explorer. Even after re-setting
(Folder Options - View - Hidden files and folders - Do not show hidden files and
folders), hidden files again appear on next system boot-up.

Please suggest to rectify this problem.

Thanks and Regards
Kumar

Back up your Registry, then run Regedit and set the value of this sub-key to 2: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Hidden You might have to be logged in as Admin to do this.
