Question about 'Get Rid of the Logon Screen'

I have a question about Get Rid of the Logon Screen:

My XP system was suddenly infected with a bug, "MS SUPERAntiSpyware 2009." It just so happens that the real SuperAntiSpyware was running a scan at the time, so it apparently caught the rogue, and allowed me to quarantine it. Unfortunately, something else was messed-up as a result -- I can no longer logon to Windows. The System boots, Windows XP starts, but when I click on my userid (or any other), it "loads personal settings.....", flips to another screen, the quickly flips back to the logon screen and says "logging off ..." If I could find a way to avoid the logon, maybe I could do some more detective work to either save my files (prior to having to reinstall), or fix the problem. I have tried everything I've read (Recovery Console, Repair, boot from disk), to no avail. YOUR HELP would be SO APPRECIATED!!!!!

Did you try Last Known Good Configuration, Cathy?
