I helped a friend with a messed up IE8 install last week. What I did was roll back
to IE 7, then reset IE back to its default like new setting, saved a copy of all
the favorites to a different folder so I could even empty the Favorite Folder. Then
reinstalled IE8. After wards copied all her favorites back to the Favorite Folder.

Quite a large proportion of posts in this forum are to do with IE problems. All versions
of this cobbled together program are problem ridden as well as being fertile ground
for malware.
Fortunately there are better and safer browsers available at no cost.

I agree, but have given up trying to talk clueless users into using Firefox.
