taskbar too broad!

This one seems to be the best source of fixing tips, so I hope I finally get help
to get my TASKBAR back to the original width of 1cm. Please kindly tell me how to
do it.
The problem originates by accident and it's apparently very common, just the common
solutions fail to succeed. There is no way to resize my bar from 3cm back to 1cm.
Is it possible to understand if I say that it looks like "my taskbar has a double
edge, I mean it seems that there is a different edge underneath (about 1mm broad)
just between the taskbar and that line on the top of it where it reads: "done" or
whatever operation is going on when one calls for a website..."
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Usually you can just drag it back down, if it won't do that possible the end Separator
Bar at the end of the Quick launch bar got dragged underneath, and to the right of
the Start Button. Drag it back up to the Rt side of the Quick launch Shortcuts. Then
see if you can drag the Bar down. If that works lock the taskbar to prevent it getting
dragged.

Dear Steve!
Thanks a lot for the RIGHT tip. (Also experts like you have had to learn, so you
can imagine how good it feels.)
All the best.

One more time, Thanks for the new feeling I get from having won those 2cm on my screen.
I hope one day I'll
be able to pass over your Beeb There Done That.
