I have 2 programs listed as such. microsoft.net.framework 2.0 service pack 2 (183mb) microsoft.net.framework 3.0 service pack 2 (169mb) Do I need them both? Can 2.0 be deleted safely. Thanks!

Unless you have a program that needs net framework installed then you don't need
any of it. I know ATI catalyst software for their video cards require it to be installed.

How do I know if I need it? Can you give me other examples. If it is something I need and I delete it can I get it back. Thanks.

Uninstall it and if for some reason you run a program and it says that it needs net
framework then reinstall it from by going here.

Also note that one program can require version 2.x, another 3.x, and another even
1.x,
it's ridiculous. But the advice given is the best solution, if you're lucky you don't
need any of that trash.

Robert,

Rather than Delete and, perhaps have to reinstall .Net, simply rename .NetXX.old,
or move to another Directory. You'll know soon enough if you need .Net, then you
can simply rename/ restore .Net to it' former glory.

Give it some time and delete when you're satisfied that you do not need them. It
sucks to have to find them, download and install them when you find you need them.

Be sure to record (on Paper) the EXACT file name/original Directory.

Robert,

You're welcome.

You can find out which programs use them by renaming the .Net framework to .NetXX.old.
When the program tries to run it will give you an error message indicating which
.Net version is needed.

Simply restore the file name, restart the program, and it should run normally.
