Question about 'Designate Your Own Drive Letters'

I have a question about Designate
Your Own Drive Letters:
hello. i found that if i change my usb external drive letter, whenever i try to perform
a search on it and STOP it before it finishes, explorer.exe freezes and i have to
close/lauch it via Task Manager in order to continue working.
this wasn’t like this when the letter was automatically assigned by windows, and
reverting it to that letter doesn’t solve this problem.
stopping search on other drives does not freeze explorer.exe.
any suggestions?

Control Pannel> Administrative Tools>Computer Managment>Disk managment

Hi Maunillo,
Did you remember to reboot after you changed the drive letter?

Hi all.
I discovered and solved the problem. I made a backup with Acronis True Image and
I saved it on my external USB. The minute I unistalled, the problem went away. I
guess Acronis keeps an eye over the backup image within my drive but gets a hold
of it in a rather obtrusive way. Great program, but I will not have it sitting there
if I am not using it.
