windows xp problem

Having problem with audio, internet, properties on any folder does not work, drag
and drop does not work lot of things are going out but xp boots ok most software
is working ok. looks like i have virus. virus protector does not work and can not
install new one either. appreciate the help in advance Thank You

Did you set up a restore point. Try going back to the first restore point. If that
does not work try to back up your stuff in case you have to reformat your computer.

What have you tried? Online virus scanner and malware scans would be a good place
to start.

Well my internet connection does not work. No other software was installed. I think
i need to get my services started I compared with my working notebook and their are
many services which are started and set to automatic but the desk top which has problem
quite a few services are not on. I tried to right click and go to properties and
properties dont work so I can't start services.

I can not go to help and support or start-all program-restore computer, after getting
their nothing happens.
