Last night my wife installed an upgrade to her Nvidia card, restarted the computer
and since then:
computer goes as far as desktop but if she tries to use any program there is a fatal
error report and the computer shuts down and restarts with same result.
Unable to remove update to video driver.
Error report "local/temp"--WER8e64.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.

On booting, hit F8, and select Last Known...

I tried F8 but loading contiued without option of Last Known Good config.

You need to continually tap F8,instead just once.
Also holding it down doesn't work.

I was able to get to and accept Last Known Good Config. but on resart same fatal
error as first reported.
Any other suggestions?

In that case hit F8 again (repeatedly) and select Safe Mode. Then from Desktop properties,
roll back your video driver.
