Auto session timeout

Hi -
I am not sure what to call this feature in XP, but it is very annoying. When I am not active on my login session, for example to step away for lunch, XP stores my desktop session away and displays the multi-user login screen - you know, the list of icons where you have to choose which user's desktop to access.

This is very annoying because when I click on my user icon to re-load my desktop, it actually first pops to my screensaver. Then I move the mouse, and XP futzes around for a minute and goes back to the multi-user login screen again!! Then I click on my user icon again, and finally get back to my desktop!!

Very annoying. Does anyone know how to turn off this session timeout feature in XP? I want to be able to go away, say overnight even, and come back to just my screensaver, NOT the login screen.

TweakUI does not offer a solution for this AFAICS. I'm afraid the only solution is to disable multiple logins.. :~(
Any hints out there?

Thanks -

Right click on your Desktop, click on Properties, Select the Screen Saver tab.
Make sure the Screen Saver is not enabled (click on Settings and select None)
Click on the Power button and make sure all is disabled.
OR change the times to values that are more acceptable to you.

Thanks, but that didn't help. I guess by Power button you mean the Power Options on the Control Panel? I switched to Always On, set all the options to Never, and changed the Advanced to not login after being in Standby. No difference.

Admittedly I did leave my screensaver enabled because that is the one thing I want to happen after X minutes of inactivity.

Actually no, but the results are the same.

And you have the check box for password on resume unchecked?

Yessir. But, AFAIK my machine is not actually entering Standby mode, if we can read that setting literally. It simply flips out to the login page.

Note that I've never used passwords on my user accounts either, make that setting even a little more disconnected with the event.

It doesn't need to enter the Standby mode to go to the login page. You only need
to have that check box marked.
What you are describing is not normal.
