Unexplanable Boot Volume - Boot cycles and won't start

When I turn on my computer I get the "Windows did not shut down properly...safe mode,
last good configuration, normally" deal. I have chosen all 3 of those options to
no avail.
Safe mode runs a list of a bunch of files and freezes.
Both last good configuration and normally go ahead and attempt windows, but then
I get the blue screen of death and it immediately cycles through the same thing...windows
did not properly shutdown. It flashes so fast I can't read it all, but I did get
the following....Unexplanable_Boot_Volume (I'm not sure on the unexplanable part
but the rest is definately right).
It was working when I left for work but had crashed by the time I got home. I had
not installed anything within the last few days except maybe an update.
Any ideas??? I desperately need a file off this computer that cannot be duplicated.

First things first slave the hard drive to another computer and see if you can get
the file off of it, and from now on you should keep a backup copy somewhere.
As for windows, a you might have a damaged file system, running a chkdsk from the
recovery console might help you out.

That black screen with 'last good configuration' SHOULD also have an item about 'do
not restart on error' or similar. That will give you a chance to read the error message
and hopefully understand what the underlying problem is...
