You don't have your display properties set correctly. It is possible that XP installed some generic drivers that will work, but it's always better to get the ones provided by the manufacturer of your graphics adapter. In any case, right click on your Desktop, select Properties, then on the Settings tab, adjust your resolution and color quality to values that are appropriate for your system.
