The laptop would have had a restore disk or partition to load a copy with those drivers but a standard disk will not. Monday, October 26, 2009 at 11:14 pm Posted by Adam Bradley (8787 messages posted) The laptop would have some way to restore to factory condition, be it a restore disk (or a set of them) or an option at the very start of the boot process that accesses a hidden partition on the hard drive. Check with the laptop's maker to see how you access it or get a replacement restore disk. If it uses a partition you may have wiped out your recovery option during the reinstall. The drivers for the devices would be available from the laptop maker's website, download them from another computer and copy them to a flash drive or CD if you have to. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 8:38 am Posted by Sebastian (270 messages posted) download the drivers from this link. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=LAT_PNT_PM_D400&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid= if you're confused about downloading... and you only want the computer to work, go for the network drivers (both wireless and ethernet), video drivers, audio drivers, and chipset drivers... there's a lot of drivers, some may not work, so I recommend you to go to the dell site and look for "drivers & downloads" under support, and put your Service Tag #, so that it'll give you the right drivers instead of downloading a bunch of drivers, the service tag is under your computer on a sticker.
