Random Startups and Freezing..

Hi, guys! I've got a PC that's acting pretty crazy. This PC hadn't started doing
this until about two months or so ago. It's not used very often, so it might have
been earlier than that. Anyway, lately, it seems to just randomly freeze or just
give me a black screen (which, I'm guessing by this computer that it's a restart
or something, though the computer doesn't shut down, cause you can still hear the
fan's whirling.) Sometimes, I'll get an 'out of signal' or 'no signal' message on
the screen as soon as it freezes, though when I receive no signal, it's usually by
the time the screen has gone black, so I'm guessing it's restarting. I've tried many
different things. First off, I thought it was a video driver problem, so I installed
the updated versions, and it still didn't fix the problem (the computer was running
in 400x600 because it didn't have a standard vga driver). Secondly, I thought it
might be a hardware problem, and I had always heard that power supplies can cause
such dilemma, so I bought a new one and installed it, and still nothing. I also thought
it might be the error message that I keep generating in Event Viewer: The ASPI32
service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file
specified. But, I went to adaptec and installed ASPI Version 4.71, and now the error
message isn't being generated anymore, and it's STILL not working. I'm wondering
if it could be the CPU or the memory, but i'm not entirely sure. Usually it'll freeze
or shut down when a webpage is loading (such as opening an email account or a rather
heavy page). I tried to install a program called Motherboard Monitor to see what
the temperature of the CPU was, but it says -55 C, so I highly doubt it's really
working, lol. So, if you guys have any suggestions on what I should do next, I'd
humbly appreciate it! Thank you so much for reading!

Okay, I think I've ruled out the CPU as being the problem as I've used Speedfan to
check the temp, and it's currently staying around 43 Celsius (the hottest for a P4
supposedly being 50-60 Celsius). So, yah, still looking for answers! Thanks!

VGA mode, the black screens and the no signals all indicate a video problem so I
would swap out the video card. Messing with the driver will do no good if the card
itself is dead. If the card is built into the motherboard then install a new one
and the motherboard should automatically cut the old one off , but disable it yourself
if you have to.
