SidebySide System error

Hi all,

I noticed that my CD ROM wouldn't start automatically, but would if I opened it from
WMP.

When I checked system event viewer I have a whole flood of red Xs and SidebySide
 system error.

I googled the problem, but I think it's a little beyond me.

I looked in device manager, but didn't see anything that would ring a bell.

I hope someone has some advice.

Sony Desktop XP

Thanks,

To all you gurus....I fixed it myself. lol. :)

I un-installed the CD-ROM in device manager, rebooted and let the computer reinstall
it.

Then I ran Microsoft Autoplay Repair Wizard, aka AutoFix.

It took a lot of searching, so I hope it's helpful to others.

Thanks Helen ! I've filed that one . . . if only XP would come up with the same issues twice, but it seems to have infinite capacity to surprise me with something new :-( Only today the Language Bar insisted on popping up at re-boot. I have notes of half a dozen ways to stop this - none worked. Eventually I did a System Restore and all's well. Maybe the right solution to every XP problem really is to reinstall Windows !! Maybe I'm defeatist. Maybe that's why I keep image backups :-)
