I don't know if this is an XP issue or a Thinkpad issue...
My wife's Thinkpad has a special function key (blue Fn key + F4) that puts system
in suspend mode. When she resumes, she's presented with the windows login screen,
even though she's the only user.
I configured XP to skip the log-in during normal re-boot but I can't seem to find
a way to skip the log-in when resuming from suspend mode.
Help would be appreciated.

Look in Screen Saver tab of Display Properties. Is the check box marked for "On Resume..."

No, I have screen saver turned off, so the 'on resume' box is grayed out. Fn+F4 puts
the system in full standby mode, not just powering down the monitor.

Make sure "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby" is unchecked,
control panel>power options>advanced.
