'Help and Support' will not open in WindowsXP

Help and Support will not open in WinXP. I get a message: Windows cannot open Help and Support because a system service is not running. To fix this problem start the service named 'Help and Support.' When I try to start the service in services.msc I get this message: Could not start the Help and Support service on Local Computer. Error 1083: the executable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service.

Doug Knox has a script that should repair your 'Help and Support' issue. Once on
the site choose the search option and enter Help and Support Fix.

Likely a malware infection, have you run any scans?

I went to the Doug Knox site, did the search, and downloaded the .zip utility and ran it. I got a message that said 'this utility will not fix Help and Support.' Thanks for your response.

I have run a scan recently but I will do another right now and see if that helps. Thanks for the suggestion

press start, open control panel, click administrative tools, click services, find help and support and make sure that startup type is set to automatic. Do this by right clicking in the "startup type" column on the help and support row, select properties and set to automatic. If this will not work you could have malware. you can check malwarebytes here http://www.malwarebytes.org/ there free program works good.
