I had to replace my hard drive, shop installed Sp3 and now I can't play a .pps email.
My Home Edition of XP Sp2 did. Wha' hoppen??

You didn't say how they did this work... if it was a clean install, then Powerpoint
would not have been installed. It is not part of the OS. If you have MSOffice, then
make sure that it is properly installed. If you don't, you can download a Powerpoint
viewer from Microsoft.

Nothing to do the service packs. In order to view a power point slide show (.pps)
you need to have a 'MS Power Point' installed or at least the free version of 'power
point viewer'. Appently these are not installed on your new Drive.

Thank you to those who responded, sorry about being such a dufus. I remembered that
I had indeed taken a 60 day freebie Office trial from Microsoft. My hard drive problem
really created a few stressful days for me.

Free Alternative

If you have a need for a similar Office suite, you can look into Open Office. It's
quite compatible with the MSOffice line, although not quite a 100% compatible as
most claim.
