Hi all, I can't open any picture files from my Desktop (.jpg, .gif, .png). However, if it's in a folder, everything opens fine. All movie files will open from the Desktop, it's only pic files. When I right-click the file and select to open in Paint, no problem. Another thing I noticed is that when I right-click the pic and select "Open With...", when I tick the "Always use the selected program..." Win Pic & Fax Viewer comes up, it says No Preview Available: And, the box doesn't stay ticked. What I've tried: CCleaner, EasyClean, and the run command, regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\shimgvw.dll. So far, no good. I know this has been answered somewhere before, I just can't find it. Help, please.

I would wager some files Windows Picture and Fax relies on have become corrupt. Perhaps running SFC might help. A workaround would might be using a different viewer like "Irfan Viewer" and associating .jpg's with it. It's free and similar to Windows Picture and Fax viewer but with some improvements.
