xp sp3... after a nasty virus...i can no longer start auto update or bits service...i
suspect registry tampering...as i get an access denied alert when trying to change
properties ...any help?

...auto update =windows update service
access denied = response from system when trying to change properties of either of
these services
path: start menu/contol panel/admin tools/services
....message from trojan remover app.
"The Windows Update service is disabled
[Service ImagePath corrupted]
The Windows Update service could not be reset
This service will also be checked when the PC is restarted"

save your documents, pix important data.
just do a freshreformat & reinstall of the OS you can pull your hair out trying
to put out this little fires after.
After malware, your system is compromised you can never really trust your system
after that.
