Make folder window stop finding files

A feature of a folder window is that if you type a letter the cursor will jump to
a filename that starts with that letter.
This messes with a macro activation I wish to use (in Marco Express) where a set
of hot keys starts up my macro.
Does anyone know how to make the folder window stop jumping to a different filename
as I type letters?

Can't be stopped.
There must be other ways to launch your "macro" ?

You need to use key combinations, not single keys, otherwise you'll always be running
into problems.

Yes there are other ways to launch the macro and yes I understand that typically
you use key combinations rather than single keys - but in this particular instance
I need to launch my macro with one hand so I was hoping to use a unique set of hot
keys that couldn't be confused with anything else.
I was hoping that behavior could be stopped, but if it can't then it can't. Thanks
anyway
