Going to power options - power schemes, altering settings and trying to confirm power scheme, there is error notice:- Power Policy Manager unable to set policy.Indicates two revision levels are incompatible. I want to alter the time to close monitor and HD, as it is now set at 30 minutes. Please help.

Thank you for your reply. I have been there, but it does not help. From googling it seems that you have to enter the registry and alter the settings, but I am not sure how to carry out this procedure

Has this PC ever been owned by another person or company? getting the "Power Policy Manager unable to set policy" message could indicate that a previous owner has applied some security policies to stop other users changing these settings.

I have been the same owner. But on googling it seems it is it only important if you want to set different settings in the power schemes, and then with the power policy manager, it is possible to change from one set of settings to another without physically changing the settings.

This would be a good time to sit down with a friend and go through the Registry editing procedure - including making a backup. Best done like that rather than using an on-line forum, I think.
