When attempting to run one of the programs in the win98/Me compatibility mode I get
an error
" ...You need to unload Debugger and try again.."
I havn't found any entries on this topic in xp help. Does anyone have any idea how
to do this?

I found my fix to my problem, perhaps it will work for others gettign this "unload
the debugger" message.
I was told to search for and rename a file called amdfix.sys
I only had one on my system in the winnt/system32/drivers directory. I renamed it
and my problem was solved. I do use an AMD processor and I have no idea what this
driver does.. so far, so good.
I wish you luck.

I got it from Activision tech support.
I must say, for a $40 game they put in mucho time on my little problem.
I probably exchanged 8 to 10 messages wit them in finding this problem.
You did have to reboot after renaming the file.. and I renamed teh extension to OLD
instead of SYS

Is it possible that it could damage the system??
I got this problem to, and I got an AMD XP1700+. amdfix.sys sounds like a "fix" to
me. I don't wanna end up with an error message next time I reboot. Is it safe to
rename it?
I mean, probably you won't even get into DOS to re-rename it if it messes up your
system ...

Hope this helps:
I have Windows XP with an Intel Pentium IV 3.06 processor and received the same message
playing Medal of Honor. My issue was directly related to the Creative Audigy2 startup
programs. I did the following which corrected this issue for me:
Start-Run-type MSCONFIG.SYS-click on the startup tab and I unchecked the following:
CTCMGo
CTDVDDet
CTSysVol
Audigy
I was then able to run the game.
Hope this helps.

Hi I am an Alienware tech, In a support call I ran with this problem. We kind of
sorted out the startup items and found 1 line that coused all this problem. It goes
more or less this way:
C:/PROGRAMFILES/CREATIVE/HKUC/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/CURRENTVERSION/RUN
Find it, kill the b... line and ready to rock and roll.
Good luck.

Hello All,
I had this same problem when I tried to run Medal of Honor:Allied Assault after installing
an Audigy 2 Platinum Sound card. After searching the Web for an hour or so, I found
a solution that worked just fine, and it actually made some sense. For those of
you who installed the driver/application software from Creative Labs Audigy 2 Platinum,
you simply need to "uncheck" the box that lets that annoying Creative Introduction/Getting
Started/Demo screen launch on startup, then reboot your system to see if A-the annoying
startup graphic stops launching at startup and B-your game stops prompting you to
"unload the debugger" when you try to run it. Good Luck!

I found the answer for myself - I just got an Audigy2 retail and started having this

just fine....

I would like to say this fixed all my problems. I couldn't play any dvd's that I
had made. And when my I would boot up my pc everytime I lost my sound icon so I couldnt
adjust my volume. I had some other issues about uninstalling software too. I just
renamed it and restarted and my pc is one with God again. I dont know how that file
got on my pc or what it is for but to me I feel like that it had a virus like attitude.
Thank You So Much!!!!!!!

When i tried to run pirates of the caribbean, i got the same error. I have an intel
processor and a soundmax soundcard driver, so the amdfix.sys file isn't on my computer
and the unchecking of the boxes isn't possible. But when i uninstalled de soundmax
driver, the game didn't have the error. Well, the game didn't work anymore because
my soundcard didn't have a driver. So I reinstalled the driver and unchecked windows
audio in the msconfig screen, but the game still crashes. I red somewhere that someone
had the same problem, but he uninstalled the dvd-burner-driver. I have a dvd-burner,
but it is my only cd-drive. So i don't dare to uninstall the driver. Can somebody
please help me?
