How do I change icons of folders so they don't all look alike?

Intended For
Windows Vista
Windows XP
Windows 2003
Windows 2000
Windows Me
Windows 98
Windows 95
In Windows 95, you can't. However, you can make a shortcut to a folder and give the shortcut any icon you like. You can also change the icon used by all folders by following the instructions in Change the Icons of Desktop Items.

In all later versions of Windows, you can, although it takes a little work. Full instructions are on pages 38-39 of Windows Me Annoyances, the book.
