Bypass the "Connect To" Dialog Box Intended For Windows Me Windows 98 Windows 95 If you use dial-up networking built-in to Windows, you've probably made a shortcut for your service provider by dragging the icon out of the window, and onto the desktop or Start Menu. Unfortunately, the Connect To box still pops-up to make sure you really want to connect, as though you weren't sure when you double-clicked on the icon in the first place. Anyway, to get rid of this useless box, try the following: Solution #1 (Windows 98 & Me only): Open the Dial-Up Networking window (it's in My Computer and at the bottom of the tree in Explorer). Select Settings from the Connections menu. Turn off the Prompt for information before dialing option. Click Ok. Note: this is only appropriate if you've already entered your username and password, clicked Save Password, and successfully logged in at least once. If not, you'll still probably get prompted, but it won't stick. Other utilities useful in automating connections: Dunce, which has the ability to redial when disconected, and can launch any program when a connection has been established - freeware. RtvReco (29 kb), which can also be configured to bypass other useless, repetetive screens - freeware.
